On The Edge – Ilona Andrews Review
(I love the colors used on this cover)On The Edge - Ilona Andrews (Book #1)Urban FantasySeptember 29, 2009Paperback, 336 pagesAceThe writing team of Ilona and Gordon Andrews write one of my favorite urban fantasy series out there - the "Magic" series featuring Kate Daniels. When I heard they had a new series coming out I became quite excited. This series takes place in a different world with new rules - but there is still a unique, magic filled world and the wonderful characters they can write Continue Reading
JR Ward, Nalini Singh, Ilona Andrews
Unfortunately, I could not get into the JR Ward chat last night. I tried along with a couple hundred (at least) other people and the chat room was frozen forever and then we all got locked out. I think a chat actually occurred, not sure with how many people:) So I will have to wait for the transcript to come out in a few days to find out what happened. Her message board was filled with so many people unhappy that they were frozen out. It was kind of funny towards the end. I don't think the Continue Reading
Magic Strikes – Ilona Andrews
This book takes place a few years ahead in the future where magic has bested technology. Usually, every couple of days the magic flares, leaving technology dead - cars don't work, lights go out, and creatures of all kinds come out to play. People that have natural magical abilities are strongest at this time. Then technology will rise again for a few days and the world is back to "normal." However, people with magical abilities are still able to perform, although at a somewhat weaker pace.In Continue Reading
Aguirre, Andrews, Dare and Ward, Oh My!
Four of my favorite authors have books coming out today! *does happy dance*Sirantha Jax isn’t known for diplomatic finesse. As a “Jumper” who navigates ships through grimspace, she’s used to kicking ass first and taking names later—much later. Not exactly the obvious choice to sell the Conglomerate to the Ithtorians, a people whose opinions of humans are as hard as their exoskeletons. And Ithiss-Tor council meetings aren’t the only place where Ambassador Jax needs to maneuver carefully. Her Continue Reading

Review: Magic and Mischief at the Wayside Hotel by Elizabeth Everett
Magic and Mischief at the Wayside Hotel by Elizabeth EverettContemporary Fantasy RomancePublished on March 10, 2026 by Ace Reviewed by Kate Magic and Mischief at the Wayside Hotel is a cute cozy fantasy romance that takes place in our modern day world. It has a fun, quirky sense of humor and a lovely found family aspect to it that really drew me in. The Wayside Hotel is a universe-hopping hotel that unexpectedly runs out of magical “gas” on Earth, one of the least magical Continue Reading
Angela’s Favorite Books of 2025
As you can see I don't have a lot of contemporary or historical on my list this year-- all I can say is that I was caught up in fantasy and fantasy romance. I kind of needed a step away from the real world in 2025. Archangel's Ascension (Guild Hunter #17) by Nalini Singh- My most anticipated book of the year. It did not disappoint. (I've read the last book in the series; Archangel's Eternity and YOU NEED TO PUT IT ON YOUR TBR). "This is a love letter of sorts to the Guild Hunter Continue Reading
