News from Mandi: Let it Be Me by Kate Noble is a delightful historical romance that is set in Italy. Kate Noble writes a very romantic tale that is mixed with music. I’ll be reviewing it this week.
I had high hopes for Assassin’s Gambit by Amy Raby, as assassin heroines intrigue me. But this one disappointed me. The heroine never came across as a true assassin, the hero never came across as a true emperor and the story frustrated me. Review is coming soon.
I read Lover at Last by JR Ward – you can read my thoughts by clicking the link above.
I’m currently reading Sharp by Alex Hughes. This is the second book in her series and I’m really enjoying it (I loved book one). This series is set in the future and told only in the hero’s POV. He is a high level telepath, a recovering drug addict and I LOVE how he is written. I’ll be reviewing this one soon too.
Next up is The Summer He Came Home by Juliana Stone.
Tori’s News: Last weekend, I took the kid to Playlist Live. It’s a youtube/internet star con. Muy fun. MUY packed. OMG. I was surrounded by 500 plus screaming tweens, teens, and young adults. The kid got to meet and take pics with her fav peeps-Tobuscus aka Toby Turner, Mystery Guitar Guy, and Jack Films so the weekend was a hit. I plan on taking her next year since Orlando is going to be a permanent hosting spot.
Anne Bishop’s Written In Red was fabulous. A dark urban fantasy with engaging characters and a storyline that won’t let you go.
Own The Wind by Kristen Ashley-The first book in Ashley’s Chaos series packs a punch and delivers the good.
Kit Rocha’s Beyond Control-Gah. Drool. OMG. Just go read it. Please. Just, go read it.
Beyond Denial-Kit Rocha- see above.
Kink It Up by M.A. Ellis-A cute erotic about a married couple who decide they need to spice up their marriage. The key here is communication. :P (Review in June issue of RT Magazine)
Rekindle The Flame by Robby Mills-A super sexy erotic romance which shows a long married couple who decide to kink it up with a series of mini fantasies. Very romantic. (Review in June issue of RT Magazine)
Cassie Alexander’s Shapeshifted-An engaging action packed third installment . (Review in June issue of RT Magazine)
Lyon’s Crew by Jordan Silver-Bad editing and some questionable scenes made for uncomfortable reading.
A Very Hexy Valentines Day by Rachel Hawkins- A cute short that gives us a sneaky peek on our fav couple from her Hex Hall series.
Seven Kinds Of Hell by Dana Cameron-A wonderful premise that unfortunately didn’t work for me. (Review)
The Problem With Seduction-Emma Locke-Mandi recommended this one and I’m glad I read it. A swoon worthy beta hero and a mother who will do ANYTHING to keep her child safe.
Lover At Last by J.R.Ward-Wow. On one hand, I got the story I’ve wanted for years. On the other hand, Ward throws so much extra into the book, the main couple is buried under it all and the focus is lost.
Bonded by Nicky Charles-A sexy PNR with a healthy dose of suspense and mystery. Super alpha male meets his match in when a feisty female goes head to head with him and demands his attention.
Walking Disaster by Jamie McGuire-I wasn’t going to read this but I did. I actually preferred this to Beautiful Disaster. Travis’s POV and emotions comes across more genuine and not as bipolar and irritating as Abby’s was in BD. We also get a lovely epilogue.
The Favor by Megan Hart-A dark retrospective love story that revolves around a tragic event and the persons involved.
Keeping Secrets In Seattle by Brooke Moss cements my love for her romantic contemporaries. A sweet, romantic, heartbreaking story about first love and second chances.
I’m currently reading Juliana Stone’s The Summer He Came Home and then on to Music of Ghosts by Sallie Bissell.
