Guest Author Erin Lindsey
Our Thoughts on Burned by Karen Marie Moning
Smexy’s Top Ten

News from Mandi: Flirting With Disaster by Victoria Dahl is a fun read. The heroine is kind of in hiding in a cabin out in the middle of nowhere and the hero is a marshal in town to protect a local judge who is threatened. Good chemistry, good girlfriend scenes and sexy romance. Review to come.

Beyond Limits by Laura Griffin is a good read as well. Her books always have very well done suspense – this time it’s a terrorist plot threatening the Houston area. The heroine is a FBI agent and the hero is a Navy SEAL. The romance is low-key, although more prominent than some of her past books. I would have liked the heroine a little warmer with the hero at times but I appreciated her work ethic. Review to come.

I read Burned by Karen Marie Moning – link to my thoughts is above

I read Heat by R Lee Smith. I should do a blog post about this book. I loved it – but it’s hard for me to rec and push it on people because it’s extremely violent with a lot of rape. It features two alien heroes and two human heroines. The heroes look like humans for the most part. Those that have read Last Hour of Gann by the same author know that she can write violent scenes. However, it’s very engaging. It’s what I would call – a crack book. I couldn’t put it down, I couldn’t look away no matter how crazy each scene became. It will stick with me for a looooooooong time. – Here is a link to a review at Dear Author long ago if you want to read more about it.

I’m currently reading Once Upon a Rose by Laura Griffin – the first couple chapters are adorable. We’ll see how it plays out.

News from Tori: Full Contact (Redemption, #3) by Sarah Castille-Like lots of bold, somewhat raunchy erotic sex scenes and dirty talk? Then you’ll love this book. Like a strong well structured storyline, dynamic believable characters, and an action packed conflict? Then my advice is to skip. Review to come.

Silver Bastard (Silver Valley, #1) by Joanna Wylde – Wylde beings some new bad arses into the fold with her new spin off series-Silver Valley. Don’t worry, you’ll still interact with the Reapers but the direction of this series is different. There is more focus on the romance and the town the MC protects. My review will appear in APR issue of RT Magazine.

Maybe Maby by Willow Aster – Aster has a lovely voice that speaks to you through her stories, instantly drawing you in and making you a willing participant. Maybe Maby is bittersweet and humorous love story that addresses love, loss, survival, and hope from the viewpoint of a young woman suffering from mental illness.

Falling Away (Fall Away, #3)  by Penelope Douglas – Enjoyable to a point though the similarities in setup and outline Bully are trying. Remarkable growth in heroine is cheer worthy though the hero left this reader cold and unmoved. Review to come.

Tough Love (Special Delivery, #3)  by Heidi Cullinan – Cullinan holds nothing back in or out of the bedroom in this May/December daddy romance.  Heartfelt and heartbreaking, you will fall in love with this couple as they struggle to deal with the demons that hold them back from a love that can set them free. My review will appear in APR issue of RT Magazine.

Last Hit: Reloaded (Last Hit, #2.5) by Jen Frederick & Jessica Clare – Fans of book one will love this long look into Nick and Daisy’s life as they attempt to settle into their lives. A hint of suspense and intrigue balances well with the lush love scenes and swoony worthy declaration. Review to come.

Mate Bond (Shifters Unbound, #7) by Jennifer Ashley – I adore this series and this installment is no exception. Though not a lot of advancement on the arc, we do get some nice steamy sexy times with a mated pair of shifters whose lack of mate bond causes some issues. A strong conflict and action packed somewhat violent resolution makes this a thrilling read. Review to come.

Give It All (Desert Dogs, #2) by Cara McKenna – I love McKenna but this particular series isn’t doing it for me. The voice is different from her previous works and the premise doesn’t quite match up to storyline. You expect an energetic action packed suspense and instead you get a introspective emo romance with spurts of action here and there. Reviewing for Heroes and Heartbreakers.

This weekend I am redoing our bathroom. Up on the reading schedule is Bella Andre’s It Must be Your Love and Samantha Young’s Hero. Also got Jamie Begley’s Fat Louise which is my crack read. :P

Joanna Wylde is an auto buy for me. Love her.
Tori, I agree with you about McKenna’s Desert Dogs series. I adore McKenna and was so looking forward to the new MC series but I was very disappointed. I felt nothing for the characters, and the story just seemed to skip along on the surface with none of her usual depth.

Silver Bastards is different but appealing in it’s own way. Quiet snarky humor and some interesting subplots has me wanting book 2 ASAP!
