Smexy’s Top Ten

News from Mandi:  I was a little behind on my reading this week since I went to RT and didn’t read for an entire week (the horror!) – So this week I read AND reviewed Secrets and Bow Ties, Beyond Innocence and One Night by AJ Pine and Flirting with Scandal. You can find links above.

I also read a September Release – Everything I Left Unsaid by Molly O’Keefe. I normally don’t read books so far in advance, but Molly had talked about this book at RT, and when I got home the publisher had mailed a copy – so I was very interested to read it. It’s really great – it’s an erotic book about a girl on the run from her abusive husband who rents a trailer – and finds a cell phone. She answers it when it rings and starts a relationship with guy on the other end. I LOVE this heroine. The road to HEA has started, but will finish in book two.  I’ll talk more about it as we get closer to release date but keep this on your radar.

This weekend I have plans to read The Orphan Pearl by Erin Satie (I loved her last release).

News From Tori: I’m finally recovered from RT. YAY! And back on my reading schedule. DOUBLE YAY!

I’ll Stand By You by Sharon Sala is a humorous, outrageously, inclined small town contemporary that addresses the good and bad of small town living and the it’s effects on the people who live there.  Review to come.

Alice by Christina Henry–A dark and perverse look at Louis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland. Readers get a much different tale as Henry changes both the tone and the result of Alice’s trip down the rabbit hole. Review to appear in RT Book Reviews Magazine AUG issue.

Strength & Courage by Susan Fanetti–Fanetti’s spin off of her Signal Bend series picks up with the Night Horde and the problems they now face in the aftermath of the battle that almost destroyed their mother chapter. Romance and suspense heat up the first book in this series when a social worker and an MC member try to find common ground in the midst of a coming drug war.

Top Ten Clues You’re Clueless by Liz Czukas-A cute YA contemporary that follows the day of a HS student who cashiers at a natural foods grocery store. A faint Breakfast Club vibe appears when the girl and her friends are forced to stay in the employee break room until someone confesses to the theft of money.

Cat’s Lair by Christine Feehan-An interesting suspenseful storyline has trouble keeping the reader engaged against the monotonous romance and overbearing jerk of a hero.

This Heart Of Mine by Brenda Novak–A sweet and emotional story about a young woman who spent seventeen years in prison for a crime she didn’t commit. Out of prison, she only wants a chance to get to know the son she was forced to give up but she will have to brave the wrath of a town who hates her and the man whose callous treatment of her shattered her heart. I admit I teared up while reading this. The poor heroine suffered so much and you can’t help but admire her strength and conviction. One of the better books of the series.

Beyond Innocence by Kit Rocha–If you aren’t reading this series then I have nothing to say to you. #sorrynotsorry. Deliciously dirty, sexy, hot, and action packed, you need to wear non flammable gloves while reading because your kindle will be SMOKIN!

This weekend I will be drinking my new favorite beverage-Moscato wine (THANKS MANDI!) and reading Clay & Susan Griffith’s The Shadow Revolution.
