Smexy Top Ten
News from Mandi:
First Step Forward by Liora Blake – the start of a new series and it’s a good one. Hero is a NFL player who gets a concussion. Heroine owns a failing orchard and is alone in the world. They meet by chance, and he ends up heading to her orchard to quietly recover from his head inury. It’s so sexy, and cute – witty banter and just a nice story. Review coming next week.
Arctic Fire by Keira Andrews– Loved the setting of this m/m, far up north in the arctic. One hero lives there, not completely out in his small, conservative town. The other hero travels up there for work. They get snowed in together in a tent *wink* It’s cute, but short and a little heavy on the setting details. Review coming.
Up next for me is Wound Tight by Tessa Bailey – a m/m!
News from Tori: T gave me a cold (the butthead) but thankfully, I have found The West Wing. What a GREAT SHOW! Why didn’t anyone tell me how great this show was? *side eyes the world*
Honor by Jay Crownover–The first installment of Crownover’s spin off-The Breaking Point-gives us Nassar’s and Honor’s story. Sexy, humorous, and dark, this antagonistic romance is appealing overall though I had some issues with the plotlines.
Right by Jana Aston–The second in Aston’s Wrong series gives us Everly’s story. Hilarious and sexy, Everly finally meets her match only to discover he is the big brother of her latest stalking victim. Everly is a trip, Spencer is uber sexy, and I liked that she finally gets a taste of her own medicine when she becomes the stalk-ee for once. I felt the end was a little rushed but all in all an enjoyable read.
Mr. President by Katy Evans–I ended up DNFing this one. There is a lot of promise that just didn’t deliver for me. Between the time jumps, the heroine’s flip-flopping, the political liberties taken, and the weak narration, I was bored out of my skull.
Duke of Pleasure by Elizabeth Hoyt–Enjoyable to an extent; I do love this world. I like Alf and Hugh as individuals but romantically, they were weak together. The conflict was almost exactly like Duke of Sin’s and there was no advancement in the arc. The most entertaining aspect were the two new characters introduced who look to be the H/h of book 12.
Downed by Jen Frederick–The 3rd in Frederick’s Gridiron series gives us bad boy former Warrior QB Ace Anderson and the one woman who is determined to make him into the perfect boyfriend-Bryant Johnson. Funny, sexy, and a wee bit angsty, I enjoyed seeing Ace find forgiveness, redemption, and love. I did have a few issues with Bryant in the beginning. I wasn’t completely on board with her at first but she grew on me. Review to come.
Fish Out Of Water by Hailey Edwards–A short novella in Edwards’ Gemini series that shows us what happened to Harlow after she was possessed by a serial killer. A fast, fun PNR with a well-plotted mystery and some reveals that bode interesting for the series.
Santa Baby by Heidi Cullinan–Cullinan takes a big chance in this installment for she essentially changes the dynamics of a previously established HEA. Does it work-yes and no. Some issues I enjoyed watching her tackle while others weren’t as thought out as I would have liked. Review to come.
Hold Me Down by Shari Slade–The 4th and final installment in Slade’s The Devil’s MC serial is a fitting end to the turbulent and somewhat fitting relationship between Noah and Star. From pain to pleasure, Slade gives readers the ride of their lives. Review to come.
This weekend I’m reading One Fell Sweep by Ilona Andrews.

Tori, The West Wing is the best! Check out the west wing weekly podcast hosted by Joshua Malina for your West Wing fix. I’m jealous you are experiencing them for the first time!

I’m really enjoying it so far. The episodes go by so quick-I could seriously watch all 7 seasons in a weekend if I wasn’t pacing myself. lol

Totally agreement on Mr. President. Such a disappointment.

I have a love/hate relationship with her books.
