The other day I got an email from Goodreads that reported that I had read a whopping 97 books this year. My immediate reaction was, “What? That can’t be right!” And it’s not. Mainly because I fail epically when when it comes to logging in books I’ve read that I didn’t have to review for this blog. Sadly, the real number is only about 110 which is still a bit sad. But that’s what happens when real life steps in. Going back to work has taken a huge chunk out of what was my “reading time”. You Continue Reading

Tori’s Favorite Books of 2013
2013 ran the literary gauntlet from incredible never to be forgotten stories to crap I wouldn’t line my rabbit cage with. We saw the rise of emotionally angsty New Adult, erotic moody billionaire alpha hole trilogies, and intense “omg they di’nt” biker MC romances. Self publishing began to lose it’s stigma and take a larger share of the market while also contributing to the rash of plagiarism that flooded the internet. It was a crazy wild year for publishing. Below is a list of what rocked my Continue Reading
Smexy’s Top Ten–November 22nd
10. Is this the prettiest advent calendar you have ever seen? When I wake up on December 1, this will be waiting for me, right? 9. Jane from Dear Author rec’d Shooter by Dahlia West to me this week, and I had a blast reading it. The hero, Chris “Shooter” and all of his buddies that work at a car garage are ex-military. Chris is very alpha, cranky, intense. His buddies give him a hard time the entire book which made me laugh, a lot. Hayley moves to his town and has a very dark and Continue Reading
Smexy’s Top Ten–November 8th
10. This is happening. I can’t be stopped. 9. Goodreads has announced their nominees for the best books of 2013. You can vote in the many categories here. The Best Romance category includes Lover at Last by JR Ward and then pretty much every New Adult book you can think of. I’m not against the new adult genre, but come on people. No historical books? No adult contemporaries? *frowny face* (I wrote in a vote for Heart of Obsidian by Nalini Singh. Take that Goodreads). I will say the Continue Reading

Smexy’s Top Ten–October 4th
10. Blunt Card has some of my favorite Halloween cards. I’m announcing it’s a tradition and I must post them (repost them) now that it is October. Oh drunk Peggy, how I heart you. 9. Nalini Singh has announced the title of her next Psy/Changeling book coming June 2014: Shield of Winter and the blurb: Assassin. Soldier. Arrow. That is who Vasic is, who he will always be. His soul drenched in blood, his conscience heavy with the weight of all he’s done, he exists in the shadows, far from Continue Reading
