Mandi’s Top 20 30 books for 2010 I am listing them in order that I read them this year. Okay, so I told Tori to name her top 20 and then cheated and included 30 instead of 20. I couldn’t cut any. *clings to list* Some are 2009 releases that I read this year, some I’ve grouped into series because multiple books in one series were released this year. Here we go! Lead Me On by Victoria Dahl – Chase is one of the HOTTEST heroes I have read this year and I love Victoria Dahl’s style. Elemental Continue Reading

Smexy’s Top Ten–November 12th
10. My Week – My week has been full of book jitters. I got an unexpected offer of an arc that made me jittery (I’m not saying what it is…I’m a tease), then I registered for the Author’s After Dark Conference (see below) which made me jittery, and then the cover for Lover Unleashed released – JITTERS. All good jitters, but I’m now exhausted! 9. The cover of Lover Unleashed was released this week. I know I already posted, but it needs to be posted again. Now that I have had a few days to soak Continue Reading
Smexy’s Top Ten–November 5th
10. My week – Hubs was in Vegas all week – I know, so unfair. I did sweat a bit because my “boyfriend” Brandon Flowers lives in Vegas. Can’t have the two of them running into each other. And hubs doesn’t act so kindly when I suggest he do a little stalking for me. Oh hubs. And yes, the hot tub is still in our driveway. I don’t even notice it anymore. Sad. 9. Cover Alert! Magic Slays by Ilona Andrews – book five in their Kate Daniels series. I….can’t….wait…for this book!!! I don’t love the Continue Reading

Smexy’s Top Ten – August 13th
10. My week – It was actually a quiet week. I survived our long weekend in Intercourse, PA ;) My six year old discovered the thrill of roller coasters while away, which makes me very excited. Now we are home for a few weeks, before we go camping with Yogi Bear. I’m scared. 9. Dorchester has announced starting in September, all of their books will be released as E-Books first, followed by trade paperback 6-8 months later. It sounds like all of their scheduled books will still release as planned, Continue Reading
What Happens at RWA 2010…
... will get blogged about. LOL Hi, this is Tori! I decided to go to RWA 2010 this year since it was practically in my back yard. I went to a similar event 2 years ago but it was not even CLOSE to the size of this event by a long shot. Here we are driving towards Orlando. J and Mar are both texting. *Iz skeered*We arrived at the luxe Swan & Dolphin resort at Disney. WOW! This place is freaking NICE!! I got a little overly excited when I got there. Here is Nalini Continue Reading
Urban Fantasy and the Happily Ever After
The more I read, the more I can’t help but be drawn to urban fantasy titles. Don’t get me wrong, I still love my romance. I get very excited for releases from JR Ward, Nalini Singh, Victoria Dahl, Larissa Ione and Jennifer Ashley (just to name a few). But currently, urban fantasy is the genre that is exciting me for many reasons. The books are usually darker, more violent, and a big reason it attracts me is the uncertain HEA (happily ever after). Just this week I read Unholy Ghosts and Unholy Continue Reading
Book, Blog and Other News
Patricia Briggs made a stop in Houston last week, and John from the blog, John’s Book Blog that needs a better title (hey, his words, not mine) was lucky enough to attend, and nice enough to post a recap of everything she talked about. Included is her news about a possible Mercy movie *gasp*, news about possible spin off books with supporting characters *double gasp* and she talks a bit about the rape scene in Iron Kissed which I found to be very interesting. She mentions that she does NOT have Continue Reading
Fantasy in Romance – Where do you fall?
(Barrons, I want to do naughty things to you – for real! Picture from Karen Marie Moning’s website.) Recently, Jessica at Read React Review (formally Racy Romance Reviews) posed the question – to what extent do you engage in fantasy when reading romance? She broke it down into two parts – first addressing why some of us treat characters as real. For example my Smexy Boyfriend list, or interacting with JR Ward’s characters on her message board. Most recently Karen Marie Moning has her characters Continue Reading
