Feature: Christmas Lane by Amy Aislin

November 28, 2018 by Mandi 4 Comments

Thank you for joining me to celebrate the release of my newest m/m contemporary romance, Christmas Lane, and thank you to Smexy Books for having me today!

If you’ve never read my books—or even if you have—here’s a fun fact: most of them are set in a small town. The Play of His Life, As Big As the Sky, and Ballerina Dad are all set in my hometown of Oakville, Ontario, Canada. Picture Winter is set mostly in Toronto, but with parts in the town of Puslinch, Ontario. On the Ice: the fictional small town of Glen Hill, Vermont. The Heights: the fictional small town of Lakeshore, Oregon.

And Christmas Lane, my newest release, is set in the fictional small town of Lighthouse Bay, Maine.

Apparently, I have a thing for small towns?

Here are some of my favourite small town romances, in no particular order.

Building Forever and Renewing Forever, books 1 and 2 in Kelly Jensen’s This Time Forever series, are recent favourites. These books are related, yet take place in different small towns and feature mature heroes, which I thoroughly enjoy. Jensen’s main characters are relatable, with quirks and flaws that suck you right into the story.

Honey From the Lion by Jackie North, book 2 in her Love Across Time series, is a time travel romance with a bit of an age gap between the main characters. Most of the story takes place in a secluded cabin in the winter in the year 1891, which the younger MC has travelled back to. This book is beautifully written, with solid characters and a slow-burn romance.

Steadfast by Sarina Bowen, book 2 in her True North series. There are now six books in this series, but Steadfast remains my favourite. Set in Vermont, Steadfast is a second chance romance between a recovering drug addict recently released from prison and the ex-girlfriend whose brother he killed years ago. This is one of those books that rips you apart in a good way.

Arrows Through Archer by Nash Summers is one of my all-time favourite m/m romances. A slow-burn age gap romance between a man in college and his best friend’s dad that left me breathless. Both men are emotionally wounded so the romance isn’t easy, and, in fact, this book ripped my heart into a million pieces. But the happily ever after is so worth it.

Wolfsong and Ravensong by TJ Klune, books 1 and 2 in the Green Creek series set in Oregon. I love shifters and magic, I love a great cast of characters, and I love well-depicted connections between the main characters. These books have all of that, and if you’re looking for something that will make you laugh and cry in the same chapter, look no further.

Give one of these small town romances a try—or, you know, one of mine *wink wink*—a let me know what you think! Thanks for hanging out with me on my blog tour for Christmas Lane. Christmas Lane releases tomorrow, November 29, and is available for pre-order at Amazon, iBooks, B&N, and Kobo.

It’s recent college graduate Zach Greenfeld’s favorite time of the year and he’s just received a temporary gig planning Lighthouse Bay’s Christmas parade. Not only does it speak to his penchant for organization, it also puts him face to face on a daily basis with his unrequited crush—Holland Stone. But his new job starts off in disaster when the most important float—Santa’s sleigh—gets damaged.

Holland needs to win the Lighthouse Bay Christmas parade float competition in order to grow his new dollhouse-making business. The prize is an article in a major city newspaper, and nothing beats free advertising. Except, eager to help the adorable parade organizer, he volunteers to help fix Santa’s sleigh, leaving no time to work on his own float, and putting his prize at risk.

Damaged floats, snowstorms, and a last-minute parade emergency force Zach and Holland closer than ever. All they need is a little bit of Christmas magic to help them realize they belong together.

Amy started writing on a rainy day in fourth grade when her class was forced to stay inside for recess. Tales of adventures with her classmates quickly morphed into tales of adventures with the characters in her head. Based in the suburbs of Toronto, Amy is a marketer/fundraiser at a large environmental non-profit in Toronto by day, and a writer by night. Book enthusiast, animal lover and (very) amateur photographer, her interests are many and varied, including travelling, astronomy, ecology, and baking. She binge watches too much anime, and loves musical theater, Julie Andrews, the Backstreet Boys, and her hometown of Oakville, Ontario.

Amy, I was born and spent the first 18 years of my life in Oakville! I haven’t read any of your books yet, but I will certainly try one now. :-)

Welcome, Amy, and congratulations on the release of Christmas Lane. I always enjoy hearing what books authors like, so thanks for your list. I’ve actually read and enjoyed four of the seven books you mentioned. Best wishes with your next writing project!
