Pilot and the Puck-Up by Pippa Grant- I actually read this a few weeks ago but I forgot about it. It’s been a hectic month, what can I say. Grant can be a little much for me with her meta take on romance and just general over the topness, but I really enjoyed this book. Joey, the heroine was a sarcastic and smart heroine, one of my favorite kinds. Zeus is a not so dumb hockey player. He is instantly smitten with her. I loved the way their relationship builds. Zeus loves Joey for her strengths Continue Reading

I managed to read to Holiday novellas this week and both were pretty cute. Merrily Ever After by Jenny Holiday. This is part of her Bridesmaids Behaving Badly series and probably better enjoyed if you have read at least one of the previous books. This one feature Elise and Jay who got married and the first book although the first book was not their love story. This was a cute and emotional holiday novella about a couple who is already married working through some things. This isn't a Continue Reading

Smexy folks, I have missed you terribly but I am back. Life required my attention a little more than I would have liked recently and it kept me from writing any reviews. It didn’t keep me from reading though, I have lots of books to talk about this week. First up, I ordered the new Kindle Paperwhite and I mostly love it. It came with 6 months of KU so I am trying to catch up on some KU reads :) Adventures in Online Dating by Julie Particka- I LOVE stories centered around online Continue Reading
Kini’s Friday Kisses
Things seem to be turning around for my reading. Either I am in a better mood or books are getting better. I think it is a combo of both though. Regardless, I am excited that I read a better batch of books this past week. Sleepover by Serena Bell- I have enjoyed ever book by Bell that I have read and this was no exception. She typically writes emotional and incredibly sexy romances. As a side note, Bell was part of a group of authors, along with Care McKenna, Charlotte Stein, Amy Jo Continue Reading

I read some better books in the last week, but my reading is still meh. It is hard to not let the events of the world bleed in to how I feel about reading. Fireworks by Sarina Bowen. (Pubs 11/13) There is a note in the beginning of the books that says “For every survivor everywhere”. Take that as a content warning. There are mentions of verbal and attempted sexual assault in this book. They are strong in this book. It was heavy and at times, it was hard for me to read. But I did mostly Continue Reading
Kini’s Friday Kisses
Once again reading has not been great for me lately. I some life things happening, not bad things, just different things it has been taking up a lot of space in my head. Reading hasn’t been the escape that I need it to be. I hope that things will change soon. Big Stick by Kelly Jamieson- I actually read this last week but forgot that I read it. I think that says something about it. There’s only so many hockey books a person can read before they all blend together. This book was Continue Reading

The past week of reading hasn’t been great for me. Sin & Ink by Naima Simone- I picked this up because it contains one of my favorite tropes/themes, unrequited love. The hero, Knox is “in lust with his dead brother’s wife.” When well done, this trope lends itself to emotional angstyness that I LOVE. But this story fell flat for me for a few reasons. According to the blurb, Knox is a retired MMA fighter, but part of the conflict is him maybe getting back in the ring. I don’t like MMA Continue Reading
Review: Fall by Kristen Callihan
This book was a reading week filled with books with heavier topics and I ended up writing omg reviews about both books I read Fall by Kristen Callihan This book is third in her VIP Series. The last one was published almost two years ago and while I read both previous books, I don’t remember a lot of the details. But I recall enjoying them and remembering Jax as the broody band member who had also previously attempted suicide. This book touches on Jax’s attempted suicide, although not in Continue Reading
