I am a fan of Booth’s after having read her second-chance rock & roll book, Bring Me Back several years ago. I also belong to a Facebook group that she co-started called Seasoned Romance, focused on romances with older (40+) characters. All this to say I am a Booth fan and I was pretty excited to get this ARC. Second chance romance is one of my favorite tropes. I read this book knowing it is labeled Romance & Women’s Fiction and both are true. I love when authors, publishers, etc help Continue Reading
Kini’s Friday Kisses
This was a moderate reading week for me that had some meh reads. Steeped in Love by Julie Evelyn Joyce. This blurb makes it seem like this book will be a cutesy story as the heroine is back in the dating world. She read the tea leaves of potential mates and uses the findings as a reason to not date them. The hero is the writer in residence at the local coffee shop. They meet. Have great banter. He eavesdrops on her dates, then over time gets jealous and then finally asks her Continue Reading
Kini’s Friday Kisses
It’s Friday y’all! The last few weeks have been kinda brutal, but I’ve had some romance goodness to get me through :) I participated in the Maryland Romance Writers tent and did some panels and met some wonderful romance peeps. I also got to hang out in the Baltimore Book Festival lounge and I saw author Nic Stone (author of Dear Martin) in there. Although not romance related, Dear Martin has been chosen for a program called One Book Baltimore. 7th and 8th graders in the city will be reading Continue Reading
Review: How She Likes it by Carla de Guzman
How She Likes it by Carla de Guzman Romance Contemporary 2018 Midnight Books Reviewed by Kini I picked this book up after seeing it teased on Twitter. Guzman is part of #romanceclass on Twitter and this was my first read by her. The heroine is an heiress and the hero is her assistant. I love when an author uses this trope and I was curious to see how the power dynamic would be portrayed. It was no squicky at all and worked well for me. Isabel is the CEO of a make-up company and in Continue Reading
Kini’s Friday Kisses
The world is kind of on fire these days and books have been hit or miss for me. I also picked up no less than 3 books this week and because of blurbs or start dates, decided not to read them. FYI- If you are in the MD/DC/VA area, come out to the Baltimore Book Festival where Maryland Romance Writers will have a tent filled with panels and romance peeps, including me. Here is the full schedule. Never Sweeter by Charlotte Stein- I saw several people on Twitter talking about this and I felt like Continue Reading
Mills & Boon Book Club Review
Earlier this month I jumped at the chance to receive a book box from Mills & Boon. When I started reading romance I had seen ad olds for Harlequin and how they used to send out a collection so I have always been intrigued by this concept. The subscription has several different subgenres you can choose from, but I went for the Dare line. I have seen several of the titles but just haven’t had the chance to read any. Y’all know the reader struggle is very real. You can see my unboxing on my Continue Reading

I finished Faking It by Jennifer Crusie and it was everything I needed it to be. Fast paced dialogue, zany characters, an excellent cast of characters, and just enough poor babys. I love the bad sex, or rather I should call it uncompleted sex. Crusie does this often in her books and I am always here for it. There are a few things in the story that are a bit dated, but overall holds up well. Grade: AGoodreads l Amazon Several of the Smexy ladies have read Intercepted by Alexa Martin and Continue Reading

Fool Me Forever by Ainslie PatonContemporary RomanceSeptember 24, 2018 Paton has pubbed two books earlier this year that I really enjoyed, including the first book in this series One Night Wife. I really enjoyed ONW but Fool Me Forever didn’t work well for me. It felt slow and I never fully connected with the characters. The hero, Halsey, is the younger brother of the hero in the previous book. Halsey is everything I like in a hero including awkward and a someone straddling the line of right Continue Reading
Kini’s Friday Kisses
I was able to get a fair amount of reading done lately and it has been kind of glorious! Her Perfect Affair by Priscilla Oliveras- I actually started this a couple of weeks ago and failed to report on it. I LOVED book one in this series and this book has long time friends and an accidental pregnancy, so basically it was written for me. But with that being said, once Rosa discovered her pregnancy the guilt and shame started to set in. A twenty-something woman who had consensual sex and Continue Reading
Kini’s Friday Kisses
This week was filled with heavily emotional reads for me. I got the ARC of Best of Luck by Kate Clayborn (Nov 27) and although I rarely read ARCs that far in advance, I had to make an exception for this one. It was wonderful and beautiful. I’ll probably be insufferable from now to release date. I will have a full review in November. Goodreads I also read All Your Perfects by Colleen Hoover. This was my first CoHo read and I was really into the book for about 90%. It’s a marriage in Continue Reading
