I am back on land and still recovering from the cruise I went on. 7 days away is fantastic and I need to do it more often. I hope to go through my pictures and post some this weekend. But I can tell you that Bermuda is absolutely beautiful. My reading goal for my vacation was 4 books. I sort of made that goal when I combined in the extra day off I took from work to recover. Here are the books I read: Butterface by Avery Flynn- I was worried bout the premise of this book and felt it had Continue Reading
Kini’s Friday Kisses
Another good week of reads and kisses! Dr. Strange Beard by Penny Reid. This was my favorite by Reid in the Winston Brothers series. I really enjoyed the pairing of Simone and Roscoe. The book had a bit of a suspenseful element but it didn't take over the story. This is a second chance at love story and y'all may know that's one of my favorites. Roscoe's love for Simone is sweet and tortured. Simone's journey to discovering Roscoe is her person was excellent. I love Reid's voice, but some Continue Reading
Kini’s Friday Kisses
It's been a much better reading week for me this week. And lots more kisses were read. I started One Wedding Two Brides by Heidi Betts, it had a cute blurb and I'm a sucker for a fake marriage. It quickly fell apart for me when the heroine was super drunk but the hero still thought it was okay to get married to her. The heroine also referred to another woman as a bitch and floozy. Hard pass. DNF A Duke by Default by Alyssa Cole. I really did not care for this heroine when she was Continue Reading
Kini’s Friday Kisses
It has been a slow reading week for me with a DNF and I am halfway through A Duke by Default by Alyssa Cole. I am enjoying Portia and her plan of being a better person. I had every intention of finishing that book tonight (Thursday) but got sidetracked when I realized that the RITA’s would be streaming online. I have been awards show obsessed since I was a young gal. So naturally I would feel compelled to watch the one that celebrates our community. Of the over 80 books nominated, I’ve read Continue Reading
Kini’s Friday Kisses
It’s Friday, aka my favorite day of the work week. I’m heading up to Philly later today to see Lauryn Hill in concert for the 20th anniversary of the MisEducation of Lauryn Hill. Please send all the positive thoughts you can that she isn’t too late. Thirsty by Mia Hopkins has been sitting in my Kindle for months. I finally picked it up. I had some hesitation due to the fact that we don’t see many Latinx heroes in romance and I didn’t know if this would be a harmful depiction of an ex-con gang Continue Reading
Kini’s Friday Kisses
Happy Friday y’all! Having a holiday mid-week is equal parts awesome and not. I somehow managed to pick up a summer cold, but it has given me some time to catch up on some reads. The First Time at Firelight Falls by Julie Anne Long I am trying to work through my backlogged TBR and get through some review books. I picked up a while ago and finally started it. It had a super cute premise, single mom heroine, principal hero. I made it to 29% and finally DNF’ed. It wasn’t bad, but it felt like Continue Reading
Review: It Takes Two by Jenny Holiday
It Takes Two by Jenny Holiday Bridesmaids Behaving Badly, #2 Contemporary Romance June 26, 2018 Forever Reviewed by Kini Favorite Quote: “Oh, I saw that in the store where I bought the condoms, and I wanted to… give you something,” Noah said like it was no big deal. He chuckled in a way that might have bordered on self-deprecating. “Something besides condoms.” Oh, shit. She was past the point of no return. She burst into tears. Which of course brought him to her side in a flash. Damn Continue Reading
Kini’s Friday Kisses
I was trying to read from my TBR this week and opened up From Scratch by Katrina Jackson. Apparently, I bought this back in April but have zero recollection why. The blurb mentions the heroine moving to a new town and falling in lust with the sheriff and fire chief. And that is pretty much exactly what happens. Once I realized it was one woman with two men, I needed to keep reading to see if it was M/F/M or M/M/F. For those interested, it was M/M/F. I found the development of Continue Reading
One Night Wife by Ainslie Paton
One Night Wife by Ainslie Paton Contemporary Romance May 17, 2018 Entangled Reviewed by Kini Favorite Quote: “Are you scared I’m going to bolt?” “I’m scared you’re going to eclipse the sun.” Cal Sherwood, you keep saying things like that, you are so getting kissed. I loved pretty much everything about this book. The premise is a fake relationship between a con-man hero and a heroine that wants to raise money for the non-profit she just started. They meet in a bar and Fin tries to Continue Reading
Kini’s Friday Kisses
It’s a small miracle but I finished reading two books this week. And finished listening to an audio book. First up I finally read The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang and I didn’t love it. I never really connected with either character. There were some eyerolly moments with a late intro of a villain that almost caused me to DNF. But I took a break and was able to finish it. Helyce really enjoyed the book and reviewed it recently. I finished Bad Bachelor by Stefanie London on Audio and I really Continue Reading
