Hello Stranger by Lisa Kleypas (Ravenels #4) Released: February 27, 2018 Historical Romance Avon Reviewed by Mandi "I was taught that satisfying a woman propery should take at least as long as making dough for bread." Garrett writhed helplessly. "How long is that?" "You don't know?" he asked, amused. "No, I can't cook." I read the Publishers Weekly's review of this book a few weeks ago, which pretty much slams it as a silly, non-plausible book and laughs it off. It made me have Continue Reading
Review: Marrying Winterborne by Lisa Kleypas
Marrying Winterborne by Lisa Kleypas (The Ravenels #2) Released: May 31, 2016 Historical Romance Avon Reviewed by Mandi I enjoyed this book more than book one, so yay for that! We meet Rhys and Helen in book (although this can be read as a standalone). They fall in love in book one, they get engaged in book one. What's left for this book, right? Well, at the end of book one (omg I'll stop saying "book one") they have a fight and they break up. This is where book two starts. Rhys was Continue Reading
Review: Cold-Hearted Rake by Lisa Kleypas
Cold-Hearted Rake by Lisa Kleypas (Cold-Hearted Rake #1) Released: October 27, 2015 Historical Romance Avon Reviewed by Mandi "I disapprove of you," she replied gravely, walking out to the grand staircase with him. "That's not the same as dislike." "Lady Treanor, I disapprove of me." He grinned at her. "So we have something in common." Hallelujah for a new Lisa Kleypas historical! It's been too long. I liked Cold-Hearted Rake. I didn't love it, but I liked it. In this book we Continue Reading
Review: Brown-Eyed Girl by Lisa Kleypas
Brown-Eyed Girl by Lisa Kleypas (Travis Family #4) Releases: August 11, 2015 Contemporary Romance St. Martin's Reviewed by Mandi Favorite Quote: Lowering his head, Joe murmured, "You're not in charge. I am." I went still. For some reason, hearing those soft words while he was pinning me down like that sent a deep, deranged thrill through me. His voice curled hotly in my ear. "You belong to me, and I'm going to have you. Here and now." Oh Joe Travis. We've waited a very, very long Continue Reading
Smexy’s Top Ten-June 1st
Mandi is at the Lori Foster Event this weekend so today’s top ten is mine. All mine!!! Bawahahahaha. *clears throat* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gw7gNf_9njs 10. I love this song and video. Everytime I hear it, it makes me laugh out loud and sing at the top of my voice. In fact, I’m going to find a guy named Earl and sing it to him in NOLA for the AAD convention. ‘Cause that’s just how I roll. 9. Who doesn’t like Legos? If you say, “ME!!!” then your a lying Continue Reading
Review: Rainshadow Road by Lisa Kleypas
Rainshadow Road by Lisa Kleypas Contemporary Romance (with magical element) February 28, 2012 St. Martin’s Reviewed by Mandi I’m relatively new to Lisa Kleypas contemporaries. I’m a huge fan of her historicals and decided to try Smooth Talking Stranger this year on audio. I ended up loving it, and still plan to read the other two in that series. But I didn’t want to let this new contemporary pass me by. I was hesitant though for one main reason – magic. I don’t like magic in my Continue Reading
Smexy’s Top Ten–December 9th
10. The Christmas tree is up and hubs and I didn’t even threaten to divorce each other once! Getting the tree to stand upright without falling over in the stand is probably the most stressful 30 minutes of our marriage every year. It also helped that I spiked hubs eggnog prior to doing the tree. The holidays are in full swing. 9. This week I finished up the Florida series by KA Mitchell. I really enjoyed all three books. As I said last week, they are heavy on the sex but I think they show Continue Reading
Smexy’s Top Ten–November 11th
10. Earlier in the week, a deer hunter fell out of a tree at the end of my street (my street dead-ends at a big wooded area. Also, I live in redneckville). Four fire trucks, three ambulances, police and the medevac helicopter all came. I guess he had a phone, and was able to call 9-1-1. It was dramatic, especially watching the helicopter try to land in this small field on my street. I have no idea how hurt the hunter was, I hope he is okay. My little street can’t handle that type of chaos! Continue Reading
Smexy’s Top Ten–July 22nd
10. My week – It is something like 110 degrees out. I think the low for Baltimore last night barely made it out of the 90’s. Yeah, not cool Mother Nature. 9. Great news for Stacia Kane fans – she announced on her blog that there will be a fifth book in her Downside series. Book four, Sacrificial Magic is scheduled to come out March 27th. (Read chp one here). Book five will be called Chasing Magic. If you haven’t read this series I definitely recommend. Book one, Unholy Ghosts is Continue Reading
Help Me Pick a Contemporary Romance Contest!!
If you dig through my blog, you will notice I never talk about contemporary romances - that is because I never read them! I love paranormals, historicals, urban fantasy, I'm even adding young adult into the mix now, I just never pick up a contemporary. I have been trying to think why that is and the only reason I can come up with is that they do not provide enough escapism for me. In a paranormal or urban fantasy, there are creatures roaming about that create a unique world. In a historical it Continue Reading
