A few weeks ago I reviewed Sweetened with a Kiss by Lexxie Callahan and in the review I referred to the hero as an ‘alpha-hole.’ To me, an alpha-hole hero is one that is very alpha and also an asshole. It’s his way or no way (of course the heroine always gets her way at the end) This hero goes above and beyond being arrogant and possessive. I feel an alpha-hole hero can be a believable romantic hero as long as there is proper redemption on his part. To me, an alpha-hole is not necessary a Continue Reading

Tori’s BookBash Adventure *Giveaway*
I went to BookBash 2013 last Saturday and had a BLAST!! Of course, I ONCE AGAIN had to get up at 5am. What the heck is up with cons and 5am? Is it a law or something because this is the 4th con where I’ve had to get up that early to attend. Grrr. I arrived around 7:30 at the pretty, pretty Doubletree Hilton in Orlando in order to have breakfast with Kristen Dywer, publicist for Simon & Schuster, and a few other bloggers. I met the lovely ladies behind the fabulous blogs Continue Reading

Smexy’s Top Ten Reasons to Lust over Hopper Kincaid
Earlier this month, Tori reviewed Fire Inside by Kristen Ashley. Now it’s my turn to talk about the book. And in true Smexy style, I have gathered all the quotes that made me fall in love with Hop and Lanie… 10. Hop is moved when a classy lady comes onto him. The news that this woman, this crazy gorgeous woman and all that she was hadn’t had a man between her legs in fucking years moved him even as it troubled him. “Lanie, honey,” he muttered, not having the first fucking clue what else to Continue Reading
Shut Up and Read This Book!
By May. Book recommendations are a funny thing, as you can’t always guess what a person will love or what detail they might find so off-putting that they end up hating the book and possibly questioning your judgment. It’s hard to say what might work for someone, even if they are your friend and you know what they generally like. That said, I’ve been given a lot of recommendations over the years, a few of them strong/demanding enough that I actually felt I was instructed I must read! Now, Continue Reading
Smex Scene Sunday
Hero: Ty Walker. Has been in prison for five years for a crime he didn’t commit. Huge guy, barely speaks. He is all rumbly and alpha and hot. He likes to call Lexie, “mama.” Heroine: Lexie Berry. The day she picks up Ty out of prison is the very first time she meets him. The next day he gives her $50,000 to marry him in Vegas. Holla! She is very silly and goofy. I loved her. Note: This is my favorite scene in the book. It’s not necessarily an erotic scene, but it’s sexy and pure romance. Continue Reading

May says: Leave the Dead Guy Alone
Whether beloved fiancée or husband, girlfriend or your first love, one of the fastest ways to have me losing respect for a love story is by picking apart a dead person’s relationship with your current leading man or lady. Now I have no problem with stories where there is no love lost for a deceased person, I am specifically talking about stories where we have a second chance at love. While I understand it could be hard to write a hero where you have a leading character who has already Continue Reading
