Smexy’s Top Ten–January 13th

January 13, 2012 by Mandi 37 Comments

10. After months of our toilets gurgling every time they are flushed, we decided we might have a septic problem. And we are talking big time gurgling – I mean those suckers were angry. So now we need an entire new drywell. Awesome. I can’t wait for my back yard to be dug up and spend a ton of money on..septic. Who wants to spend money on septic? *cries* You are also probably asking, who wants to TALK about my septic problems on top ten? Not, sexy huh? Unless there is a romance writer who wants Continue Reading

Let’s Discuss: Fade to Black Sex Scenes

September 28, 2011 by Mandi 72 Comments

Mandi: Would you rather see Edward and Bella getting dirty, or when the deed is done and the lights turn back on you only see the feathers strewn about after Edward rips open his pillow because he can’t contain his hornieness? Of course, I’m not sure I really want to see Edward naked, so let’s move onto actual romance books. I recently read and loved Heartbreak Creek by Kaki Warner. Set in 1870, the heroine finds her only option in life is to become a mail order bride for a man Continue Reading

Smexy’s Top Ten–July 15th

July 15, 2011 by Mandi 43 Comments

10. My Week – My boys have been in Science Camp all week. One of the days was, Explosion Day. Now I have to buy Diet Coke and Blue Mentos (must be that exact combination) so we can set off an explosion of diet coke in the backyard. I’m excited to see how high we can get it to go :)   9. I found this goodie at Paranormal Haven blog this past week. The cover for Fair Game, book three in Patricia Brigg’s Alpha & Omega series. Finally! Okay, we still have to wait until early Continue Reading

Review: River Marked by Patricia Briggs

February 23, 2011 by Mandi 24 Comments

River Marked by Patricia Briggs (Mercedes Thompson #6) Urban Fantasy March 1, 2011 Hardcover, 352 Pages Orbit Reviewed by Mandi Favorite Quote: Adam didn’t approve of Walmart. Note: This is a spoiler-free review! I had not read any blurbs or spoilers for this book before I started it and let me tell you how surprised I was at the first few chapters in this one. Yes, it tells the big surprise on the inside of the jacket cover – but since I am posting this review before Continue Reading

Guest Post: Hubs Reads a “Smexy” Book and Lives to Tell the Tale!

July 27, 2010 by Mandi 48 Comments

Hubs, aka Kevin, finally picked up a book I rec’d and read it – the whole thing. Then he picked up five more. Today, hubs is here to talk about his experience and I believe the words “I admit defeat” are spoken loud and clear ;) Take it away Kevin. I tend to read in large spurts because I read a book that particularly interests me, and then follow that with a few other novels until I get too busy. I personally read mostly sci-fi or thriller novels, most notably I am a big Stephen King fan. Continue Reading

Book, Blog and Other News

April 12, 2010 by Mandi 19 Comments

Patricia Briggs made a stop in Houston last week, and John from the blog, John’s Book Blog that needs a better title (hey, his words, not mine) was lucky enough to attend, and nice enough to post a recap of everything she talked about. Included is her news about a possible Mercy movie *gasp*, news about possible spin off books with supporting characters *double gasp* and she talks a bit about the rape scene in Iron Kissed which I found to be very interesting. She mentions that she does NOT have Continue Reading

Odds and Ends

December 2, 2009 by Mandi 29 Comments

Have I mentioned I am excited for this book? ;)If you are a fan of the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning and don't receive her newsletter than you are missing out! Reason I mention Continue Reading

Patricia Briggs News

October 4, 2009 by Mandi 11 Comments

You can read all of this on her blog - but in summary:There will not be a new Alpha and Omega book out in 2010. Instead, when Patricia is finished writing Silver Borne, the fifth Mercy Thompson book, she is going to edit her first ever book, Masques. Currently, Masques is selling on Amazon anywhere from $300-$500, so yay for a re-release! ;)There is also an unpublished sequel, Wolfsbane that will be edited and released. So those three books will be published next year and give Patricia Briggs a Continue Reading

Coming up in 2010

September 22, 2009 by Mandi 31 Comments

I know it is only September, but there have been so many tempting covers recently for books coming out next year. So let's take a little look at what I am anticipating:January:Tairen Soul - C.L. Wilson - The fifth and final book in her Tairen Soul series. Greatly anticipating this book. C.L. Wilson has stated she is going to start a new series, but will come back to write Bel and Galen's books!! I don't read a lot of fantasy, but I adore this series. The second book, Lady of Light and Shadow is Continue Reading
